Drying Room

Lab space   Plants on shelf

The entrance to this room leads also into the greenhouse (door on right side) or into the growth room (door on left side). Mostly, this room provides storage space for materials to be used in plant-growing areas and also provides a more moderate environment to allow for the slow drying of pot cultures prior to harvest. It also is a quiet area for taking notes, updating records, etc. because of such close proximity to active cultures.

In order for cultures to dry slowly and the fungi to adjust to gradual senescence and death of plants, pots of all sizes are placed on shelves in this room away from direct light (sun or artificial). These pots are not handled in any way until they are transported to the preparation room for harvest. Pot contents usually are dry in 2-3 weeks.
